Club Championships 2014
38 new Club Records and load of  personal bests
John, Head Coach, congratulated each and every single swimmer who came up to collect their medals with some swimmers being awarded trophies and shields for outstanding personnel achievements in the pool throughout the last 12 months.

The club is going from strength to strength and with John and the swimmers dedication to their training, results are only going to improve.

Thank you to all the parents who have travelled the length and breadth of Devon and Cornwall, some even having to travel even further to support their child’s swimming. The committee members working behind the scene to help John, Gary at Launceston Sport for all the last minute engraving and to the Swimmers themselves who have trained so hard and have had such amazing results whether at Club, County, Regional or National level.

South West Age Group Regional Championships
TWO weekends of intensive competition proved no problem for three determined members of Launceston Swimming Club, as their hard work over the past season paid off at the South West Age Group Regional Championships. The competitions took pla...ce at Millfield School and the Olympic-sized Hengrove pool in Bristol. Just to make the qualifying times was a challenge in itself, but under the watchful eye of club coach John Rhodes, Connor , Cody and Molly made excellent progress. For the second year running, Connor gained a national time — this year for the 200m individual medley — seventh place in the BAGCATS and personal bests in five events. Meanwhile, Molly just missed out on a regional time for her 100m backstroke and gained three personal bests — not a bad effort at all considering it was her first time at the event. Cody was also making her first appearance here, and gained a personal best in the 100m backstroke. The trio thanked John for his time and encouragement throughout the season. For the full report, and a round-up of the area news and sport, see this week’s edition of the Post.

Last chance swimming meet

4 swimmers from Launceston swimming club took part in the last chance swimming meet held at Millfield over the weekend.

The meet was the last chance for swimmers from all over the South West region to gain regional qualifying times for the Age Group Regional championships being held over 2 weeks in June and a final chance for Joseph Tibbetts to achieve national times for this year

With all 4 swimmers (and their parents)struggling with the humidity the first few swims were not looking very positive. After a good night’s rest, Sunday proved a much more positive experience.

Representing Launceston at the ASA South West Age Group Regional Championships are: Cody Sleeman 100m backstroke, Molly Barton, 100 and 200m Freestyle & 100 & 200m backstroke. Connor Sleeman, 100 & 200m freestyle, 100 & 200m backstroke, 100 & 200m breaststroke, 100m fly, 200 & 400m IM
